Find the right job

There are so many applicants for every job that you need to ensure that your application meets the requirements set out in the advertisement and job description if you are to have any success. Self-select for positions; be honest about whether you can do all that is described in the advertisement. If you cannot do at least 70%-80% of what they say is required, your chances of success are reduced.

Tailor your Application

Tailor your application for specific jobs and don’t send the same CV to several agencies. You need to show that you are suitable for every job for which you apply and so you need to show how you meet the criteria for each position advertised.

Make your Application stand out

It is important to have a clear, well laid out application; one which is concise but still presents a good account of relevant skills and experience in relation to the advertised position.

Asking for Additional Information

Ask for a job description if one has not already been provided. Consider whether there is any other information which would be useful to you and, if so, prepare your questions in advance of calling. For example, does the company have an annual report? Depending on the position advertised, this might be a useful document for you to review. Ensure that your call won’t be viewed as canvassing and so disqualify you.
